Recent studies have shown that at average, about 60% of adults have bad posture and hence experiences back or neck pain. When it comes to your health, nothing can be more important and you will need to examine your posture or you could face a lot of problems like muscle and joint pains when you reach old age.
Sitting for long periods of time has been linked to causing health problems. When you do this, your back muscles relax which means that your chest cavity is being pushed forward. This will weaken your posture and hence, something must be done to react or it could cause more strain on your joints.
What makes this exercise so good is that you can do it anytime and anywhere. You only need to stand up from where you are sitting or you could well be walking your dog and you can easily work out your posture. In the long run, your posture gets fixed and you actually feel healthier. In some ways, it is seen as an acupuncture practice which is all about correcting your joints and improve circulation.
What you need to do?
This exercise is best if you are sitting down but you can actually do it when standing or in other positions. Just place your palms on your thighs. Then slowly but steadily turn them upwards. It is a simple as that. Do this repeatedly for about 5 to 10 minutes whenever you can and you can expect to improve your posture in a short time.
