Almost every shampoo producer will claim they have the best product for you. They will all claim to protect and preserve your shiny hair. But are they true? Do you believe them?
Not everything is true on the label
It is very challenging when it comes to hair care. Taking supplements like black beans that are rich in iron help but it is also in your daily scalp care that makes a difference too. Picking a shampoo is hard because there are so many brands and so many types. So what should you be looking for when you buy shampoo?
Choosing your type of shampoo
Basically, trial and error might be your best method but before you go out and try every single type of shampoo out there, filter out some factors.
- Your scalp – Remember that your shampoo is not all about your hair but it is your scalp. If your scalp is unhealthy, it will lead to hair drop that will need future treatment. Oily hair is normally caused by oily scalps. That means you should pick a shampoo that is meant for oily scalps.
- Level of pH (acidity) – Check the label of the shampoo for the acidity level. Your hair usually has an acidity level of about 5pH while your scalp is higher. Find the shampoo with higher pH and you can see your hair shines better if the pH is right. Otherwise, change it.
- Frequency of use – There are shampoos designed for everyday use but most of them are most suitable for once every 2 to 3 days. If it says ‘Daily Use’, the shampoo is not as strong as those that are normal.
- Ingredients – When you look at the label, be sure to look for any chemicals that you might be allergic to. You should check out the minerals that nutrients that are good for your hair.
- Harmful agents – Not every type of agent added in the shampoo is good for you. If you see names like Polyethylene Glycol, Sulfate, Fragrance, Parabens, or Triclosan, you might want to think twice before buying.
