Hainanese Chicken Rice – Facts and Calories

Any Malaysian will love their Chicken Rice. Whether it is roasted or steamed or fried, it is almost a mainstay whenever you go to an eatery. The Hainanese Chicken Rice in particular is ranked in any Top 10 Malaysian food.

Types of Chicken Rice

The Hainanese Chicken Rice is very similar to steamed chicken rice with their yellowish-skin. This dish is usually served with fragrant ginger rice and aromatic sauce. The consumer usually gets a single serving of either drumstick, wings, breast meat or thighs. Besides that, there is the Roasted Chicken Rice where the meat is roasted for hours before they are served. This gives the skin a brownish color and with a different taste and fragrant and similarly served with the yellow ginger rice.

There is not much of a difference between the two in terms of calories. A single serving of Hainanese (Steam) Chicken Rice will give you about 665 calories while the roasted version is higher at 688 calories.
