Covid-19 Lockdown – Your home survival guide

Things might not get any better. No one can lie to you about this. The Covid-19 pandemic has got from bad to worse within a few days. The numbers are increasing and people are mostly ignoring the calls to restrict their movements.

Are we serious?

Looking at the number of cases that are always piling up despite the government’s efforts to break the chain of the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems that nothing is slowing down. In fact, some are claiming that the worse is yet to come and it has yet to peak. So, are we serious? Yes, we are! So, what should you do for now? We work out a simple plan for you since you are at home (assuming that you are).

Plan your meals

This is a good time to start planning how you want to consume your food. You do not need to do any panic buying but there is no reason to binge either. The best thing you can do now is to plan your meals for the next 2 weeks. That should be as far as you can see for every cycle. The Malaysian MCO started with 14 days and extended by another 14. So if it goes for another round, it should be 14 as well.

Create your entertainment

You always wanted to create an audio-visual room. This is the best time to do it. It is time to have all the entertainment you can get at home whether it is Netflix, Amazon Prime or just YouTube. As long as it is comfortable, it is good enough. But don’t stop at movies. Think about books and even board games (if you have a kid at home).

Clean the mess

Remember that shelves you bought that you wanted to fix and never had the time. Now you have all the time in the world to do that. If its too much work split it to 2 days! It is time to throw away things you do not need or recycle them.

Start projects

Work out several projects either with yourself or with your kids. Paint the walls if you like. You can also think about using the time to write the book you always wanted, or even start a YouTube channel. List out items around your house that can be sold and maybe post them on eBay, Mudah or Carousell. You can earn something there.

Plan your time

A schedule will always be essential. Allocate certain hours of the day you are going to be out buying groceries or food. The rest of the time, work out which time of the day can be used for which of the above.
